Pre-K & K

Alphabet Adventures Camp

Emergent Literacy program for children ages 4-5

Give your child the foundation they need for future reading success in a fun and nurturing environment! This strategically designed program offers children in preschool and kindergarten a structured literacy approach to help improve alphabet knowledge, pre-reading skills and phonemic awareness; and are taught by teachers trained in Orton-Gillingham methodology.

Highlights of the program include:

  • Small group and individualized instruction.
  • Multisensory methods using visual, auditory, kinesthetic and tactile methods.
  • Evidence-based strategies.


Grades 1-6

Cubs Camp

For students entering Grades 1-4

Get active, explore, create and play! Students entering grades 1 through 4 will engage in a series of themed weeks that focus on activities, including hands-on science, technology, sport skills development, nature and animal exploration, crafts, music and more! Lions Leap

For students entering Grades 1-6

The Lions Leap program helps students entering grades 1 through 6 – and those repeating Kindergarten – experience academic success, discover valuable organizational skills, and learn new strategies that can be carried into the new school year. Academically, students will reinforce and enrich academic skills in the areas of language arts, reading, written expression and mathematics. Classes are highly structured and non-graded, with an average teacher-to-student ratio of 1:8 and a curriculum that is aligned to support requirements under the Third Grade Reading Guarantee. Jump Start (Half Day)

For students entering Grades 6-8

Jump Start is geared towards individuals who may have struggled in school during the previous year and may benefit from a short-term, back-to-school readiness program. The half-day sessions are designed to improve a student's organizational skills, study/test-taking skills for classroom-based and standardized testing situations, note-taking and summarization skills to improve comprehension, and understanding of technology resources that can make reading, note-taking and organization easier and more intuitive. An initial inquiry is required for students new to Lawrence.


Jump Start (Full Day)

For students entering Grades 6-8
August 6-10, 2018 | 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

In addition to receiving the full benefits of the morning sessions, students who elect to enroll in the full-day classes will engage in hands-on leadership and communication activities administered by the Effective Leadership Academy from 12:15 to 4 p.m. Each day, participants will learn how to turn their potential into performance in a fun, highly interactive, life-skill based holistic experience about personal responsibility, self-empowerment, healthy behaviors, and interpersonal and communication skills. An initial inquiry is required for students new to Lawrence.

3-D Printer Camp

3-D printing is the future of technology! This camp introduces participants to the high-tech world of 3-D printing and teaches groundbreaking engineering and technology skills.


Art Camp

For students entering Grades 7-12

What type of artist are you? Find your flare during our Art Camp! This camp offers a wide variety of exciting opportunities for students to explore, create and learn about art. Participants will become exposed to a diverse selection of art including drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture and clay modeling. Tailored to students with varying ability levels, participants are welcome to join us as we promise that each day will offer a new and exciting art medium to explore.


Baseball Camp

For students ages 13-18
July 16-20, 2018 | Noon to 3 p.m.

This camp will seek to further develop the skills that players already have as well as enhance their knowledge of the game of baseball. Skill development in the areas of both hitting and position work will come from individual and group instruction. Along with developing these skills, players will be taught new ideas and skills that go along with a higher level of play. Campers will then have the opportunity to demonstrate what they have been taught in live scrimmages.


British Soccer Camp

For students ages 13-18
June 4-8, 2018 | 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Improve soccer skills, increase understanding of the game, and have fun in this co-ed soccer camp, taught by Challenger's British coaching staff! Campers will also learn about respect, responsibility, integrity, leadership and sportsmanship.


CHOPPED Cooking Camp

For students entering Grades 7-12

Come and learn the art of cooking from an experienced, talented chef. Participants will begin each day with a new, hands-on culinary experience, ending the week with an extended box of easy-to-create recipes under their belts. From knife skills to sauteing, this camp is sure to excite the "Master Chef" in any young person!


LEGO Robotics Camp

For students entering Grades 7-12
June 11-15, 2018 | 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

With an extensive collection of Duplos to Classic (and everything in between), LEGO Robotics Camp participants will have the opportunity to learn through play, while acquiring the fundamental skills associated with engineering. Campers will be challenged to build complex LEGO robots, along with other figures and designs.

Music Camp

Music Camp is designed for girls and boys who are interested in exploring or improving their musical skills. Student Leadership Conference

Students will explore and sharpen their leadership skills in this week-long workshop. The conference is designed to provide attendees lifelong tools to not only become more successful learners, but future leaders.


Technology for Learning Support

For students entering Grades 7-12

Technology levels the playing field for children who learn differently. Students will learn about a variety of reading tools - including text-to-speech - and gain individual recommendations and practice. This program is recommended for non-Lawrence School students.


Theater Camp

For students entering Grades 7-12

This fun and engaging camp provides participants with the opportunity to take part in interactive, theater-based activities. Campers will learn the introductory skills needed to become more comfortable performing in public, but also the exceptional performing techniques to become better stage performers.


Volleyball Camp

For students entering Grades 7-12
July 16-20, 2018 | 9 a.m. to Noon

Volleyball camp is designed to give each player instruction on all aspects of the game, including setting, passing, defense and hitting. Campers will spend the first half of camp improving their setting skills, before moving on to passing and defense.

Campers are divided according to age/skill level and drills give campers several touches on the ball using game-like situations. Beginners will learn the fundamentals needed to become efficient hitters while advanced players will develop fundamentals as well as improve in-match decision making and strategy.

On hitting days, campers are instructed on footwork, arm swing, and shot selection. Learning groups will cover areas of attacking including: approach, take off, body awareness, arm swing, wrist/hand control, and shot selection.


Young Entrepreneurs Camp

For students entering Grades 7-12

Do you believe that you have THE best idea for a small business? Or are you simply interested in learning how to become a young entrepreneur? Either way, the Young Entrepreneurs Camp may be perfect for you!

The Young Entrepreneurs Camp will offer a week long opportunity for participants to gain valuable skills to become the next youth entrepreneur. The curriculum will offer a variety of educational training opportunities including interactive, hands-on activities, computer labs, product development, and field trips to local businesses – all aimed at helping participants to become owners of their own small businesses.

Young Entrepreneur Camp participants will also walk away with real world business skills such as financial management, business etiquette, leadership development and effective communication through interactive lessons and activities.
