Please be aware that an online inquiry is required prior to registration for Alphabet Adventures, Cubs Camp, Lions Leap and Jump Start. Lastly, all camps will be closed for the July 4 holiday.

Pre-K & K

Alphabet Adventures Camp (June 11-July 9)

Emergent literacy program for children ages 3.5 to 5
Tuesdays & Thursdays ONLY | 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Broadview Heights campus | $300

Give your child the foundation they need for future reading success in a fun and nurturing environment! This strategically designed program, which meets twice a week for an hour and a half, offers children in preschool and kindergarten a structured literacy approach to help improve alphabet knowledge, pre-reading skills and phonemic awareness; and are taught by teachers trained in Orton-Gillingham methodology.

Highlights of the program include:

  • Small group and individualized instruction.
  • Multisensory methods using visual, auditory, kinesthetic and tactile methods.
  • Evidence-based strategies.

An application is required for families new to Lawrence School. Please allow two to three weeks for the application process.

Lions Leap (June 12-July 10)

For students entering Grades 1-6
Monday to Friday | 8 a.m. to Noon

The Lions Leap program helps students entering grades 1 through 6 – and those repeating Kindergarten – experience academic success, discover valuable organizational skills, and learn new strategies that can be carried into the new school year. Academically, students will reinforce and enrich academic skills in the areas of language arts, reading, written expression and mathematics. Classes are highly structured and non-graded, with an average teacher-to-student ratio of 1:8 and a curriculum that is aligned to support requirements under the Third Grade Reading Guarantee. An initial inquiry is required for students new to Lawrence.

Jump Start: Half Day (August 5-9)

For students entering Grades 6-8

Jump Start is geared towards individuals who may have struggled in school during the previous year and may benefit from a short-term, back-to-school readiness program. The half-day sessions are designed to improve a student's organizational skills, study/test-taking skills for classroom-based and standardized testing situations, note-taking and summarization skills to improve comprehension, and understanding of technology resources that can make reading, note-taking and organization easier and more intuitive. An initial inquiry is required for students new to Lawrence.

In addition to receiving the full benefits of the morning sessions, students who elect to enroll in the full-day classes will engage in hands-on leadership and communication activities administered by the Effective Leadership Academy from 12:15 to 4 p.m. Each day, participants will learn how to turn their potential into performance in a fun, highly interactive, life-skill based holistic experience about personal responsibility, self-empowerment, healthy behaviors, and interpersonal and communication skills. An initial inquiry is required for students new to Lawrence.

3D Printer Camp (June 10-14)

3D printing is the future of technology! This camp introduces participants to the high-tech world of 3-D printing and teaches groundbreaking engineering and technology skills.

Explore, create and learn about a wide variety of art styles and techniques! Drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture and clay modeling, wire sculptures and more. This camp is suitable for students of all ability levels.

For students entering Grades 6-12

Learn the art of cooking from an experienced, talented chef. Participants will begin each day with a new, hands-on culinary experience, ending the week with an extended box of easy-to-create recipes under their belts. From knife skills to sautéing, this camp is sure to excite the “Master Chef” in any young person!

Technology for Learning Support (June 24-28)

Technology levels the playing field for children who learn differently. Students will learn about a variety of reading tools – including text-to-speech – and gain individual recommendations and practice. This program is recommended for non-Lawrence School students.
